The Best Way to ABA: Overcoming by Becoming

Meet Sky McCready

Receiving education from the University of Central Florida in Communication Disorders and education from the University of South Florida in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), I have always been interested in people, particularly communication and behavioral processes.

Beyond education, I believe the best and most qualified candidate to render therapeutic services is one with first hand experience with suffering. I can rest assured that I can always relate to my client's needs in ways sufficient enough to make a real difference in their lives.

ABA is the leading treatment for Autism Spectrum Disorder and other related developmental disabilities. While I have experienced treating individuals with these diagnoses, among others, I do not limit the utility of the treatment to these populations. I am also a provider of the less known subspecialty, Clinical Behavior Analysis, which applies the principles of the scientific enterprise to what has historically been considered mental or psychological disorders.

I have experienced working, not only with children diagnosed with developmental disabilities, but also, their families, who often need the most support. I have seen families of children diagnosed with disabilities suffer tremendous stress and from many negative emotions, like fear, shame and guilt. The most important part of what we can do to support a family is remediate those feelings with difference in perspective.

I believe strongly in, not the power of the principles discovered by the science of ABA, but the power of the art through which it is applied.

I am confident we will both benefit from your journey with me.

Practice Areas

01

Functional Assessment and Analysis of Challenges to Functioning

Prior to the development of interventions and throughout the service process, challenges to functioning are analyzed in terms of function, or in terms of the purpose they are serving.

02

Providers can act as both participants and facilitators to make meaningful and lasting change.

03

Training and Clinical Behavior Analysis

Service providers are qualified to train individuals pursuing certification in the industry as well as train family members to intervene effectively and create a stable household. Often, Clinical Behavior Analysis is a therapeutic interaction that co-occurs during training processes, which can be effective for both the personal and professional life of the trainee.
